As a weight management counselor for 26 years, I recognize the role that good nutrition and exercise play in achieving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  I am here to offer advice, accountability and follow up for any lifestyle changes you wish to make.  “Get your mind right” and “If you think you can, you’re right. If you think you can’t, you’re right” are two of my favorite motivational sayings.  Your mind is your most powerful tool, together we can begin to implement small changes that can advance you towards your goals.

Helping people finally make that connection between their eating habits, their weight, and their overall health is very rewarding.  Seeing them recognize and reap the benefits of adopting a healthier lifestyle is also very uplifting.

MY NUTRITION ADVICE

The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.  Just getting started is sometimes the hardest part of any fitness routine, but once you’re going it’s much easier to keep going!  Little things like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, parking in the farthest parking space at the grocery, getting up every 30 minutes to walk around your office for 5 minutes add up to improve your cardiovascular health and can help expel extra calories.

EXERCISE TIP

Think!  Think!  Think!  Think before you eat…am I bored?  Am I stressed?  Am I tired?  Why am I eating?  Also be picky!  Don’t eat just any old thing—really enjoy it—be picky!  Make the healthiest choices you can make, and don’t forget that chocolate cake, macaroni and cheese, and fried chicken can have a place in a healthy diet.  Realizing that balance and moderation are important will give you the freedom to have the foods you love, and love the foods you have!
